The MAC 9 DS‑D Comp refines MAC’s original double‑stack 1911 with modern upgrades and a built‑in compensator for flatter, faster shooting. Chambered in 9mm and finished in QPQ Tenifer, it features the Agency Arms Optic System (AOS), extended controls, and a redesigned hammer.

Range testing showed excellent reliability with only a single ammo‑related malfunction, and the integrated single‑port comp noticeably reduced recoil and improved follow‑up shot speed. The main downside was the factory AOS mounting screws, which are too short and prone to loosening, though easily fixed with aftermarket replacements. Grip ergonomics were acceptable but not best‑in‑class.

With an MSRP of $1,160 and typical street prices under $1,000, the MAC 9 DS‑D Comp stands out as one of the best value “2011‑style” pistols available, delivering strong performance and features at a significantly lower cost than most competitors.
